Ride Local, Think Global - Globalbike Chapter Teams
Globalbike is a little different than the average local bike team. What we like to think is how our advocacy can actually change lives. The Globalbike Chapter Teams are an integral part of the overall Globalbike family. We share in the role to be the marketing arm for Globalbike and our job is to bring awareness to our simple mission; use the transformative power of bicycles to create positive social change in the developing world. Our contagious vision is a world where bicycle and creative partnerships provide those in need with access to the heath care and vital services critical to their collective prosperity. We feel that the "go-give" spirit toward bicycle teams is the way to go. We think you would agree that representing a cause is a powerful thing to do, and that is what we focus on.
We are always looking for individuals who cycle regularly, race some local races, participate in some triathlons, or time trials AND who who want to make a huge impact on the developing world - all while developing a core group of cycling friends who ride and race together. Your typical Globalbike team member is a Cat 3 or Cat 4 (including masters) rider along with the same level triathlete. We don't have a "required" number of races mandated. We just want good quality riders and characters to represent a great bicycle cause. We do, however, request that each rider get a USA Cycling license for the racing year. We also have a $20 annual membership fee that goes directly to Globalbike to purchase bikes. So, are you a category 3-4 racer looking for a team? Maybe you are an event rider tackling some of the region's challenging centuries or charity events. If so, we've got a home for you...
If you are interested in riding for one of our existing Globalbike Chapter Teams, then please email us with any questions, comments, thoughts, or for membership consideration.

Ride Local, Think Global - Start your own Chapter Team...
Team Globalbike is an internationally recognized marketing arm for Globalbike, inc. a Spartanburg, SC based non-profit that provides bikes to caregivers in the developing world. Everyday Globalbikes travel a collective average of 5000miles - providing critical support to orphans, children, and disconnected villages. Since 2006, Globalbike has proven that bikes really can solve the world's most challenging problems.
Globalbike is now looking to expand our chapter teams into new markets to spread the message that two wheels can make a world of difference. We are looking for volunteers who cycle regularly, want to make a huge impact on the developing world, and have a core group of cycling friends who ride or race regularly.
Four Simple Steps to Start a Globalbike Club Team
Globalbike can handle most of the logistics of ordering the team kits and apparel leaving only a few key steps for the organizer. This makes the process efficient and save a lot of time and complications.
Step 1: Collect a group of cyclists interested in riding and racing together under the Team Globalbike banner
Step 2: Collect sponsors for your local Chapter Team. A team will need a presenting sponsor ($1000-$2500) and a collection of other sponsors ($250-$500). Every sponsorship is tax deductible and Globalbike can provide examples, marketing studies, and other support information to make "the ask" easier. All sponsorship dollars go towards providing bikes in the developing world.
Step 3: Collect clothing orders and money for discounted kits from team members and plan out the season.
Step 4: Once the kits are in and the team is organized, Globalbike asks that each team host at least one "Ride for a Caregiver" charity ride. Globalbike can provide all needed information to make this a success.

Globalbike Chapter Teams Code of Conduct
As a member of Team Globalbike, one promises to follow USA Cycling guidelines regarding rider conduct and rider sportsmanship. Furthermore, one will practice good sportsmanship and conduct oneself in a professional manner at all cycling and non-cycling events where one is representing the team. (Representing the Team is defined as any time you are wearing team apparel, or participating in any race or training event where you are registered as a team member, regardless of whether you are wearing team apparel while participating at the event.) Team members demonstrating a manifest unwillingness to meet the following Code of Conduct and By Laws will be subject to suspension or dismissal from the team.
A. Unacceptable Behavior includes but is not limited to:
- Verbal or physical abuse to any person at any time while representing the team.
- Use of foul language or physical abuse towards any person while representing the team.
- Making obscene gestures directed to any persons while participating in a racing or training event.
- Malicious actions on or off the bicycle towards any persons, property, team apparel or equipment while participating in a racing or training event.
B. Team Apparel
- As valuable advertising for the team's sponsors, team members are expected to wear the current, complete team kits whenever possible during training, and without exception while participating in all races and events. Team members are expected to maximize exposure for team sponsors during racing, training, and charity events.
C. Safety
- Team members must be conscious of their role as ambassadors to the non-cycling and recreational cycling community. Failure to wear a helmet and abide by traffic laws, if observed by the public, can be extremely detrimental to the team and its sponsors, and may result in the revocation of all sponsorship benefits to the entire team.
- One agrees to wear a certified helmet and obey all traffic regulations as enforced by all relevant local authorities while on individual, group, or team training rides, or as instructed during sanctioned events.
D. Banned Substances
- One will adhere to the World Anti-Doping Association and US Anti-Doping Association guidelines.
- Team members known to take banned substances will be asked to offer a letter of resignation to the team, effective immediately - no exceptions,
